The Incredible Curious Adventure: A Global Stakeholder Research Initiative

In April 2016, Sugarbird Studios and Gen Re launched The Incredible Curious Adventure, an on-camera research project exploring the future of the insurance industry. Our investigation delved into emerging trends, evolving uncertainties, industry disruptions, the shift toward SMART, customer-centric models, technology as a game-changer, and the brands of the future—particularly in Africa.
We engaged with insurance leaders, futurists, digital specialists, brand experts, 3D printing innovators, and fintech/insurtech pioneers, capturing their perspectives on film. What emerged was a compelling and thought-provoking documentary that sparked new industry-wide conversations about the future of insurance.

From South Africa to the World

The South African story was so impactful that it led to the creation of a global insights documentary. In 2017, we expanded our research, traveling to the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, the USA, China, and Australia, interviewing 90 thought leaders across industries. The global narrative was so compelling that it was translated into six languages and shared worldwide.

Extending the Conversation: Digital Dialogues

From the wealth of insights gathered, we produced a 10-episode digital dialogue series, diving deeper into the trends and perspectives uncovered. Here’s the first episode as an example.
